Father’s Day.

The official celebration of Father’s Day was initiated by President Richard Nixon in 1972, while other countries observe this occasion on varying dates. In the United Kingdom, Father’s Day is celebrated on the third Sunday of June. The choice of Sunday as the designated day allows families to more conveniently come together and honor their fathers. It offers a day free from work obligations, providing an opportunity for families to spend quality time at home, exchange gifts, and enjoy each other’s company.Interestingly, the first Father’s Day took place in Washington, D.C. on June 20th, 1910, marking its long-standing existence of 113 years. Remarkably, Father’s Day predates Mother’s Day by approximately 50 years. In the 1920s, there were notable movements in the United States advocating for a joint celebration of Mother’s and Father’s Day, referred to as Parents’ Day, although this proposal did not come to fruition.
